๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ Audit for Social Media - What, Why and Who?๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ

Updated: Jan 31, 2020

We are all probably very familiar with the word "Audit" in the world of finance and accounting, where a company's financial activities and reports are closely inspected by an external professional body, to ensure that all transactions are recorded and revenues claimed in accordance with the law and relevant regulations.

But, did you know that like your accounts, your business' social media platforms need regular Audits as well, to make sure your business name stay on top of the feeds and get in front of your target audience?

First thing first, WHAT is a social media Audit?

๐——๐—ฒ๐—ณ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป: A social media audit is a series of steps taken to evaluate and optimise a business's overall social media presence on its chosen social media platform(s).

In very plain words, it is a process where you (or a social media expert like ๐—ฆ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜ ๐—ฆ๐—ผ๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—น) look at your business' social media profiles, your content, your audience and your brand messages, and answer important questions like:

  • Is the business reaching the right audience?

  • Is the business retaining old customers?

  • What is working and what needs improving?

  • Is any of the profiles not in line with the business' overall marketing strategy? If so, how shall it be re-aligned?

Then, WHY a social media Audit?

Having regular audits on your social media channels will:

Directs your focus and resources to areas with the most success potential.

  • Does your audience love videos the best and not respond much to links? Then forget about links, make more videos!

Uncovers opportunities for greater social media results.

  • Missing a link on Facebook to your website when you try to encourage people to purchase a product or service straight from your site? Add it!

Ensures that the business' online profiles are in line with its marketing strategy.

  • For a law firm aiming to brand itself as "the expert" on social media, how would you feel if it uses slang language all the time?

Now, WHO can or shall conduct the Audit?

It is absolutely fine if you'd like to give this a go yourself on your business - do let us know how you find the process.

But, if you aim for a thorough understanding of how valid your social media strategy has been, how effective your social media presence has been, and to learn from the true 'best practices' in social media (let's face it - social media changes all the time!), it is best when it is done by someone who lives and breathes it every day!

Now, who's ready for a Social Media Audit? ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ
